Star Wars Cards

Not so long ago, in an office near here…

Designing a themed set of playing cards around people's favourite undying franchise was a delight at every step. The deck was intended as a fun surprise gift for a themed company Christmas party, and quickly turned into a multimedia design project where every detail mattered. Replete with inside jokes, references and a few diabolical twists (who doesn't think Jar-Jar is the greatest evil mastermind?)

The added benefit of such a memorable party favour was to immortalize many co-workers as face-cards for a kind of reference material for new hires. Truly something for everyone.

Evading the Dreaded Imperial Starfleet

The typical red/black scheme aligned well to an epic light and dark side split. With so many iconic* ships in the Star Wars universe, it only made sense to retrofit them as the graphic representations of each suit, further delineating numerals with individualized formations.

There are Heroes on Both Sides…

While not every hero fit perfectly into their face-card roles, the theme lent itself well to choosing characters that could be the template for our office comrades, thanks to some clever photoshopping and just the right filters to appear as carefully painted illustrations.

A Joker Surprise

What good what it do to make some Star Wars fan-service without a satyrical sci-fi reference? Special mention for the misfit jokers to make the fans think twice!
